Just wondering if anyone else is a Perry Rhodan fan. Looking at it I reckon Starblazer lends itself perfectly to the Rhodan Universe and it would make a fantastic Setting for the game. Is anyone working on this at all in the lands of Fandom or even running it ?

love Perry Rhodan! I read a lot of the books and many of them featured similar art to Starblazer

I'm currently planning a PR inspired campaign. I love the Big Space feel of it, the starships, the grand sweep of galactic history all without being quite as, umm, "goofy" as some of the Star Blazers stuff.
It's still very early days in the planning of the campaign but I intend it to be very much a sand-box style game with regular jumps in the timeline where the impacts of the player's actions unfold on a broad canvas.

PS. I don't know if you're aware of Perry Rhodan Risszeichnungs Journal which contains tons of technical drawings (useful to all sci-fi games).

I have now busily started some work on a Perry Game using Starblazer but will probably be many moons before it comes off.

I must admit Perry Rhodan is one of my all time SF fave series. Thanks for the link to that German site btw. I really wish I could read German sad.gif

I am thinking of starting my game at the very start of the PR Series... Having the PCs at part of the Mutant Corps

Oh, I totally love that idea. I have been Perry Rhodan fan for almost all my life. I was totally disappointed by the official Perry Rhodan RPG that has been released a couple of years ago and when I was leafing through SBA I thought that this might be a perfect ruleset for Perry Rhodan.

Alas the Perryverse is not the easiest universe to play in. The background you as a GM can draw upon is huge and especially to players who have never read any of the novels it can be quite intimidating.

I am currently trying to run a Mass Effect game using SBA, and perhaps I might give PR a try later. In the meantime I would love to share ideas with you guys.

P.S.: I am still amazed that there are Perry Rhodan fans outside Germany.

Hi Stargazer - I am a huge Perry Fan and have been since the late 70's when I was ill and mum brought back #6 and 8 of the Perry UK books from a 2nd hand bookstall.

I went on to collect and read 114 or so books in total and regret the fact that I can't read German.

I would look at starting it at the very beginings of the Mutant Corps - possibly sidestep the Mind Stealers or have them operating on the periphery and head straight for the the search for The Immortal and the Vega Sector.

At this stage mankind knew little of what was out there and the players could explore a period of covert exploration and cat-and-mouse games with the Arkonides , Topides, etc.

I think it would work really well - Space Battles, Espionage, the mystery of the Immortal unknown and more.

I haven't yet put it into practice yet as I let my core rules out and never got them back (Just ordered a new copy) but that is where I am going with it and please do share ideas smile.gif

Just wondering where Perry is now... is Pucky still about and Reggie Bell ? smile.gif

I agree, the early stories are probably suited best, especially when you like the retro-SF charm.

Alas I can't tell you that much about the current plot, because I haven't been reading for a couple years now. I am just to busy for keeping up with the series. As far as I know recently a new cycle started with issue 2600. And yes, Reginald Bull and Gucky are still around (these are their German names).

Thanks for that - I was bought a stuffed toy Gucky/Pucky many years ago and loved it. Long lost alas now.

I do keep reading updates in English from time-to-time but not the same and they loose a lot in translation.

I am tempted with the Perry PC game now just to get a fix

I own the Perry Rhodan adventure game but I haven't finished it yet. It's definitely well made.

I've been pondering a lot about a PR game recently and today I posted some of my thoughts on my blog. Currently I am leaning towards something like Savage Worlds or Open D6, but SBA is not totally out of the question either.
