Is there any word on when the people that preordered the game will get the PDF?

Umm... the pre-order doesn't say it comes with the PDF. The last I knew, Captain Robert wasn't sure he wanted to release the book as a PDF, having had too much piracy of his music.

Aaargh ... pleaze ... make him talk to the guys at Wildfire (CthulhuTech), Evil Hat (Dresden Files & stuff) or Posthuman Studios (Eclipse Phase) and let them explain to him that in RPG context PDFs are not only a feasible way to sell your product but actually a vector for additional sales of physical books!

Accepting digital media is the only way to cope with them! There WILL be a PDF out there ... either a bad pirated scan or a great product you can use to further your cause ...

I'll close the exasperation tag here ...

I hope this does not come over as aggressive or offensive ... as it is not meant that way. wink.gif

I find this funny that the game and I guess the band are all about celebrating piracy. From what I heard at gencon there will be a pdf released (as all the GMs had one there so it is already been created).

Oh, a light at the end of the tunnel ... that sounds promising!

I really hope they reconsider.

Yes, Captain Robert has been persuaded to release the PDF! (Huzzah!) But not until the fans who pre-ordered the signed, numbered physical copies have got theirs. So another two or three weeks yet.

Just for information - the fact that there *is* a PDF doesn't mean that there will be a PDF for sale. RPGs are generally produced as a print-ready PDF file to send to the printer. Whether that PDF is then shrunk down to a more manageable file size for sale to the public is up to the company who produced it. Not everyone who sells through Cubicle 7 makes their PDFs available to the public.

Yay! That's great news!

Will the people who preordered the game from either Abney Park's site or the Cubicle 7 store get the PDF for free, or will we have to pay for it separately when it's out?

I'll have to ask Angus on that one...

Thanks! And while you're at it, please thank Captain Robert for reconsidering his earlier position. With all the tablet computers (like the iPad) around nowadays PDFs are becoming more and more popular. And I know more than one gamer that decided to get a hardcopy after all even after getting the PDF, so it might even help to produce more sales. It's really a win-win situation! wink.gif

Question: is it still possible to order one of these (signed, numbered), or are they sold out already?

If I can still get one, which website should I go to? (Since the ones through the Abney Park main site may or may not come with a PDF.)

I just checked the Abney Park Market. The preorder for the Airship Pirates book is not listed anymore. So I guess the 300 copies that will be signed by Captain Robert are sold out.
